I have been thinking a lot about how our present situation plays out in the context of our Lenten journey. At the beginning of Lent, I was suggesting that we not be so concerned with proving that we can give something up, rather, that we should see it as an opportunity to make room for God. Perhaps that is the lens through which we can view circumstances that we find ourselves in now.
Because of measures being taken to slow the COVID-19 pandemic, we are having to give things up for a time, and while this can seem most inconvenient, if we look at it from a different angle we can see that it is loaded with opportunities. Opportunities to slow down. Opportunities to be not so busy. Opportunities to be with family. Opportunities to make room for God.
Remember, God loves us and is with us in this trying time. In our fear. In our anxiety. In our helplessness. In all things, God is with us. Let's take the opportunity to be with Him in it all too.
